The teaching studio at ExitLeft is a modern, well equipped space in the centre of town. Principal Ian Williams has established a highly successful programme that has been proven to accelerate a student's skills and produce fantastic results across the board. Singing is taught in a group and individually, with the teaching method being based on the philosophy of Hobart based piano teacher Eileen Johnson. Students work with Ian and our staff, all of whom have many years singing training and a rich background in performance.
 

 
Ian is the founder and principal of ExitLeft productions. He is one of the State's leading professionals in the commercial contemporary music and musical theatre areas. Ian has a Batchelor of Music, specialising in Voice and has taught singing for sixteen years at all levels from pre-school through to pretertiary level. Ian’s experience and record of excellence was endorsed when he was appointed to the staff of the University of Tasmania’s Conservatorium of Music, as the vocal lecturer in Music Theatre.

Ian also works as a performer, musician, producer, director, musical director and in the technical areas of theatrical production including sound and lighting design. It is this skill base that has equipped Ian to produce and direct the largest musical theatre events staged in Tasmania. These include a range of shows for ExitLeft from The Sound of Music to Cats and Les Miserables. Ian has also worked for The Old Nick Company, Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Hobart Repertory Theatre Society, Mainstage Theatre Company, The Bawdy Panto, Tasmanian Theatre Unit Trust and Tasmanian Theatre Summer School as well on musicals for Claremont and Guilford Young Colleges.

Eloise most recently played Martha in Spring Awakening. Other shows include All Shook up and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Guilford Young College), High School Musical and Cats. She featured at Carols by the Bay in 2009.

Imogen starred as Sharpay in High School Musical, Dorothy in Wizard of Oz, Jemima in Cats and in 2011 will play Lisel in The Sound of Music. As well as Spring Awakening, Peter Pan, Snoopy, Puss in Boots and Annie.

One of the original members of ExitLeft, Alex appeared in The Wizard of Oz in 2002 and High School Musical in 2009 and is an accomplished Pianist. Alex is currently studying Medicine at Uni.

Luke featured in High School Musical, the Pantomime Puss in Boots and a number of Summer school productions including Les Miserables. He also plays Piano and Trumpet and is currently studying Phamacy at Uni.

Bianca has appeared as one of the drama club members in High School Musical, and in Cats and Snoopy. Bianca has also sung in various bands through school.

Anna's most recent performance was the Summer School Theatre Produciton of Urinetown. She has also featured at Carols by the Bay. Anna is currently studying Volin at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music.

Tatiana has appeared on-stage in High School Musical, Cats and Footloose (Sacred Heart College). She has stage managed 13 The Musical and Spring Awakening as well as many of ExitLeft's concerts and events.

Irini has appeared in Cats, High School Musical and the Pantomime Puss in Boots. Her most recent performance was as Kendra in 13 the Musical.

After working directly with Debra Byrne during High School Musical, Laura has gone on to feature in the plays Butterfly Ball and Winter (Ogilvie High School) and most recently the role of Lucy in 13 the Musical.

Emily recently played Cassie in 13 The Musical and featured as one of the science club members in High School Musical.

Maddy is a singer-songwriter known for her laid back style. She regularly performs around Hobart and has been the support act for Monique Brumby and Ben Wells and the Middle Names.

Josh is best known as Billy Elliot in the Australian national season which ran from 2007 to 2009. He has also appeared in Cats, Beauty and the Beast and 13 The Musical. In 2011 he will star in The Sound of Music.

Noah featured in 13 The Musical, firstly playing the role of Eddie, then moving up to the lead role of Archie in the repeat season in January 2011.

Bridget will be playing Louisa in The Sound of Music in 2011, after playing Gretl in the 2002 production. She has also performed in Cats, High School Musical, 13 The Musical and the Pantomime Puss in Boots.

Rosie's most recent performance was in the Hobart Theatre Summer School production of Urinetown. She has also appeared in Annie (The Friends School).

In 2010 Bailey played the lead in 13 The Musical following on from roles in Les Miserables and Beauty and the Beast. In 2011 he will star as one of the Von Trapp children in The Sound of Music.
